I hold a PhD in English (literature and culture) from the University of Washington. My scholarship is primarily focused on contemporary North American poetry, but also touches on genre, affect, historiography and art. My dissertation considers a genre of contemporary poetry that repurposes language from historical documents.

My poetry explores the body across both pain and intimacy, with interest in religious language and a variety of historical and contemporary poetic forms. I hold a MFA in creative writing from the University of Washington. My poems are published in Reed Magazine, Yalobusha, Rogue Agent, Permafrost, Cherry Tree and elsewhere. I am recipient of the Academy of American Poets prize for my poem “Metaphors for my Body on the Examination Table,” published on poets.org.

I am a fiber artist, currently making a series of textile art objects with the text of my own poems. Other art projects have included book and print arts.
